Privacy Policy

The official privacy policy for Leoka Labs LLC and Paximity.

1. Scope

This is the official privacy policy for Leoka Labs LLC and Paximity. It explains the categories of information Paximity may process, why information may be used, how it may be shared or retained, and the choices available to users.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on the features you use, Paximity may process the following information:

  • Account and authentication information, including an email address and authentication records.
  • Dog profile information, including names, photos or descriptions, and leash or reactivity status supplied by a user.
  • Device and app information, push-notification identifiers, app diagnostics, server logs, and usage information.
  • Approximate and precise device location, location timestamps, active-walk status, and background location during an intentionally started walk.
  • Community reports, including reported dogs, wildlife, people or activity, trail hazards, conditions, and resources.
  • Besties relationships and related visibility preferences.

3. Active walks and location

Movement alone does not begin broadcasting an active walk. A user must intentionally start a walk before location is used for active-walk sharing. During that walk, foreground or background location may support nearby-awareness features, direction or proximity information, reports, notifications, and walk operation.

Ending a walk is intended to stop active-walk sharing. Synchronization can be delayed when a device is offline, connectivity is interrupted, or the operating system limits background activity.

Paximity does not intentionally display precise raw GPS coordinates publicly to unrelated users. Other users may receive approximate proximity, direction, status, or community-report information. Those signals can still reveal sensitive patterns, so users should share thoughtfully.

4. How information may be used

  • Provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot accounts and Paximity features.
  • Operate active walks, nearby awareness, community reports, Besties, trail resources, and notifications.
  • Prevent abuse, investigate harmful conduct, and enforce service rules.
  • Understand reliability and improve performance, accessibility, and product design.
  • Comply with law, protect rights and safety, and respond to valid legal requests.

5. Sharing and service providers

Leoka Labs may use service providers to support functions such as hosting, authentication, databases, notifications, email, diagnostics, and other app operations. These providers may process information on Leoka Labs’ behalf for the services they perform. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, during a legitimate business transaction, or at a user’s direction.

6. Retention and deletion

Leoka Labs may retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide and protect the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain appropriate business records. Retention may vary based on the type of information and the reason it is processed.

Users may request deletion or correction through the Account & Data Deletion page or by contacting Leoka Labs. Some records may be retained when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect the service and its users.

7. Security

Leoka Labs uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. No network, system, or storage method is completely secure, and Leoka Labs cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Paximity is not directed to children. If Leoka Labs learns that personal information from a child was collected contrary to applicable requirements, it will take appropriate steps to address the information.

9. Your choices and rights

Users may manage location and notification permissions in device settings, but disabling them can limit core functionality. Depending on location and applicable law, users may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to appeal certain decisions. Requests can be sent to contact@leokalabs.com and may require identity verification.

10. California and international users

California residents may have additional rights under applicable California law, which may include rights to know, correct, delete, limit certain uses, or opt out of certain transfers when those provisions apply. The availability of a particular right depends on the circumstances and applicable law.

If Paximity is used outside the United States, information may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate. Privacy protections and rights may differ by location.

11. Changes and contact

Leoka Labs may update this policy as the service or law changes. Material changes will be communicated as legally required. Questions, rights requests, deletion requests, and correction requests may be sent to contact@leokalabs.com.
